Day: 320

Additional Info

Sometimes you’ve got to think quick and pull something together. We ran a story on B+F/W today about supporting local businesses (breweries specifically, but the idea applies to any business) or those places you love, but maybe don’t always frequent, may not be there next time you decide to go.

Anyway, back to thinking quick and the photo. I needed something to support the story and my first idea – the only idea, actually – was to run up and grab a photo of the closed sign at Sugar Mama’s. They recently closed, for good. I didn’t hang out there, I’ve only been in the place three times. Two of those were to shoot stories for the blog. I posted one of the photos here on Day: 120.

Though not a brewery, Sugar Mama’s was a local beer establishment. Our readers are local beer fanatics, they know what happened, they’ll recognize the sign, and they know why they had to close. And in the end, although it might be tough for some people involved and employees, I thought the visual was strong enough to maybe make someone think… Hey, I should go check out that place or that place may not be around much longer.

You can see how the photo was used here, if you want.
